Drop Off

All four-year-old kindergarten children need to arrive by 8:10 AM. All other children should arrive by 10:30 AM. This ensures that your child will receive the best learning experience. Due to nap and lunch times, no child will be allowed to be dropped off between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM unless arrangements have been made with the office.

Pickup

Children will be released only to adults named on their authorization of child pick-up form. Parents must provide advanced notice to the director if someone else will be picking up their child.  To maintain safety, any person picking up any child must come prepared to show identification at the front office.

Late Pickup

Parents who pick up their child after the regular closing time (6:00 PM) will be charged a late fee of $2 per minute.  Late charges will be due the next day (no exceptions).  Admission will be denied the following day if payment has not been made.  The parent will be asked to sign a late pick-up form acknowledging that the child was picked up late and that the late fee is due.  If this becomes an on-going problem, the parents may need to find another center that can accommodate their needs.

Vacation / Absence

No refunds will be made for sick days or absences.  Refunds, credits, or make-up days cannot be granted.  If a child is out for two consecutive weeks due to an illness, parents will be required to bring a physician’s note.  If a child is sick for more than two days, please call and notify the office.

Families enrolled in the full-time program are entitled to one week of vacation (five consecutive days, Monday-Friday).  The one week vacation may only be used during one calendar year (January 1 through December 31).  A minimum of twelve weeks of enrollment must have occurred prior to using the vacation time.  Notice must be given to the office two weeks prior to the vacation time so that families will not be charged.

Illness

Please keep your child home if he or she displays any of the following symptoms:

  • A fever of 100° or more, or has had a fever in the past 24 hours
  • A constant cough, wheezing, nasal discharge, sneezing, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • A communicable disease, which may have some or all of symptoms: sniffles, reddened eyes with discharge, sore throat, headache and abdominal pain accompanied by a fever, redness or the eyelids accompanied by discharge (pink eye)
  • Sever itching of body or scalp (lice)
  • Sore throat
  • Unusual spots or rashes
  • Mouth sores with drooling

Please notify the director immediately if your child has a communicable disease.  Your child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours before coming back to the center.

If a child has diarrhea during the day, we will make a courtesy call to let you know.  After the second occurrence in the same day, you will be asked to pick up your child.  Children with a serious illness will not be allowed to enter our center without a physician’s approval (in writing).

Should your child become ill during the day, you will be notified as soon as possible.  Parents are required to pick up their child from the center within thirty minutes.  Parents who are unable to pick up their child in a timely manner will need to have an authorized person pick up their child.

Daily health checks are made upon each child’s arrival.  If a child shows visible signs of illness, he or she must be taken home.

Medication

Parents will be required to fill out a medication release authorization form.  All medication must be in the original container, indicating the child’s name, type and date of prescription, amount and time of dosage. All medication will be kept in the office.  No over-the counter medication will be given unless a doctor’s note is presented with he medication.  It is the responsibility of the parent to pick up the medication from the front office.

Biting

In order to provide the best possible care for all children at VBD, parents will be notified if their child has bitten another child.  If the child bites a second time during the same day, the office will contact the parents.  VBD reserves the right to require the withdrawal of a child if biting persists.

Emergency Closing

In the event of an emergency which makes it necessary to close the center, parents will be notified as quickly as possible.  VBD will remain open if possible; however, no allowance for tuition will be made for such occurrences.  The center’s answering machine will have a message if the daycare is closed.  Listen to WOTC 88.3 FM or watch TV3 for additional closing information.

Withdrawal

A two week notice is required to withdraw your child from VBD.  If a two week notice is not given, the regular tuition for the two week period must be assessed.
